RECAP: Maryland Athletes at the 115th Millrose Games

Maryland Athletes shined yesterday at the 115th running of the Millrose Games in New York City. Maryland individuals and relays walked away with 4 event wins and two runner-up performances.  Below we recap all of the performances of Maryland athletes and relay teams.

Boys 60m Dash - Brody Buffington (Catoctin), finished 2nd in the race running 6.66. This time ranks Buffington 3rd in the United States. Ricardo Cooper (Calvert Hall) finished 4th running 6.87. He was just off his season best of 6.83 which currently ranks him 30th in the Country. Both times are MD #1 and #2 this season. Converting their times to 55m they ran 6.21 and 6.40 respectively. Coincidently, 6.21 is the State Meet Record that is now in serious jeopardy next week!

Girls 60m Dash -  Elise Cooper (McDonogh) finished 4th running 7.51 and  Jade Ofotan (Bullis) finished 6th with a time of 7.61. Cooper's time of 7.51 ties Ofotan Maryland state leading time that she ran earlier this season at the SPIRE Scholastic Showcase Meet. 

Girls 300m Dash - Maryland sent 6 athletes to run the 300 at the Millrose Games. Elise Cooper (McDonogh) led the way finishing 2nd with a time of 38.20. She has run 37.93 earlier in the year which is currently US#3. Myla Greene (Bullis) finished 3rd running 38.34, Sydney Sutton (Bullis) was 4th running 38.38, Sage Hinton (Bullis) was 7th running 38.95, Mirai Bernard (Bullis) finished 8th running 39.18, and Ella Cooper (McDonogh) finished 10th running 40.08. 

Boys 300m Dash - Brody Buffington (Catoctin) finished 3rd running a new MD#1 and US#7 with a time of 33.80. It's a shame he was disqualified from his Regional meet as the all-time state meet record is 34.14 set by Oakland Mills Kyle Farmer. Mickey Greene Jr. (Bullis) running 35.73

Girls 600 - Lauren Leath (Bullis) finished 7th with a time of 1:37.63. That time is a MD#1 and ranks in the top 50 in the country. 

Boys 600 - Quincy Wilson (Bullis) won the event with a time of 1:17.80. That time is a new MD#1 and US#1 and is a new Millrose Games meet record.  Colin Abrahams (Magruder) finished 7th running 1:22.06. That time ranks Abrams #2 in Maryland and within the top 20 in the country. 

Boys Mile - Tinoda Matsatsa (St. Andrews) was the top Maryland finisher as he placed 4th with a time of 4:10.72. This time ranks him 12th, nationally. Right behind him in 5th place was Antonio Camacho-Bucks (Centennial) who ran 4:12.44. His teammate Sebastian Martinez finished 13th running 4:18.97. All 3 runners are ranked 1-2-3 in Maryland. 

Girls Mile - Leah Stephens (Good Counsel) finished 4th running 4:52. This time lowers her MD#1 mark and is currently US#12. 

Boys Long Jump - Antoine McNair (Calvert Hall) finished in 6th place with a jump of 21-11. Brody Buffington (Catoctin) who was entered into this event, did not participate. 

Girls Long Jump - Elena Cooper (Bryn Mawr) finished 7th with a jump of 17-04.75 and Morgan Bridges (Bullis) finished 8th with a jump of 16-10.75. Reagen Schwartz (Bullis) unfortunately scratched all of her jumps. 

Girls 4x200 - The Bullis team of Sydney Sutton, Sage Hinton, Myla Greene, and Mirai Bernard lowered their MD#1 and US#1 time running 1:37.06 and winning the race!

Boys 4x200 - Bishop McNamara finished 3rd with a time of 1:32.73. Right behind them, finishing 4th was the Calvert Hall team of Antoine McNair, Ricardo Cooper, Damon Ferguson, and Noah Thomas running 1:34.33

4x400 Girls - The Bullis team of Lauren Leath, Tatum Lynn, Gabby White, and Morgan Rothwell won the Millrose 4x400 with a time of 3:48.75. All 4 girls split 57 seconds in the race. Their time was just off their US #1 time of 3:37. Bishop McNamara also ran well, running 3:57.09 with the team of Chloe Maignan, Justice McDaniel, Amber Wimbish, and Jalyn Hayes-Moore. They were also just off their season-best time of 3:55, which is ranked 2nd in the state and 8th in the nation.
