Top Performances at the 2023 Jaguar Invitational
The 2023 Jaguar Invitational held at C.H. Flowers High School in Springdale, MD showcased several top individual performances in track and field, with athletes delivering impressive results despite earlier forecasts of bad weather.
Class of 2023 athlete Mykel Morman from Dr. Henry A. Wise High School had a standout performance, breaking two meet records in the 100m and 200m events. Morman clocked in at an impressive 10.44 seconds in the 100m, and ran the 200m in 21.41 seconds, just shy of his 21.32 seconds personal best from last week's Largo Invitational.
Tressia Davis, a sophomore from Friendly High School, impressed with a time of 12.05 seconds in the 100m, placing her in the top 10 in Maryland. Davis also made a remarkable 19 feet and zero inches long jump, putting her in second place in Maryland. She finished off her performance with a win in the 400m event, posting a time of 57.61 seconds and entering the Maryland top 10 in that event.
Nina Pitt, a class of 2023 athlete from C.H. Flowers High School, had a double win in the 100m hurdles and triple jump events, with her times of 14.42 seconds and 37 feet and 2.5 inches earning her the fourth and fifth spots in Maryland respectively.
Bowie High School's Jacob Bayes also put on a great show, winning the not often contested 1500m and 3000m events.
In the 400m hurdles event, Anyia Fersner from Largo High School impressed with a time of 1:05.05, earning her the second spot in Maryland for that event.
Elvira Uzegbu from Largo High School had a double win in the throws, with distances of 105 feet and 3 inches in the discus and 34 feet in the shot put.
Several relay teams also made it to the top five in Maryland, including Wise Boys in the 4x100 event with a time of 42.76 seconds, Bowie Boys in the 4x200 event with a time of 1:29.04, and Bowie Boys in the 4x400 event with a time of 3:21.17. Flowers Girls in the 4x100 event had a time of 49.06 seconds, Largo Girls in the 4x200 event had a time of 1:44.26, and Flowers Girls in the 4x400 event had a time of 4:04.80.
Overall, the 2023 Jaguar Invitational was a great success, with impressive performances from both individuals and teams.
