#7 - Henry Hopper (Wilde Lake)
#9 - Mateo Gros Slovinsky (Walt Whitman)
#13 - Ben Marks (Queen Annes)
#15 - Alejandro Berrio (Seneca Valley)

The Elite Boys race will feature 6 of the top 15 teams in Maryland. The battle for the team title looks like it will be between 2 teams, Severna Park and Towson. Towson won the Barnhart Invite and Severna Park won the Seahawk Invite and looked strong in thier opening meets. The final score should be close between them. After those two Crofton, Chopticon, and Wilde Lake should battle for the 3-6 team spots!

On the individual side, The top runner who was originally entered, Charlie Butler is unfortunately no longer attending. With him out, it opens the door for Henry Hopper, Caleb Tenney, and Kieran Mischke. All three have run well this year. Hopper won the Seahawk invite, Mischke won the Barnhart Invite, and Tenney was second at the Eagle Invite. They also have run well on the Hereford course in previous years. Alejandro Berrio and Mateo Gros-Slovinsky are also likely to be in the lead pack for the majority of this race! Look for Ben Marks from Queen Annes High School to surprise a few people and place high. He has had an outstanding start to his season and might be a little overlooked being on the eastern shore!

An earlier version of this article stated Caleb Tenney was not running. He will be running in the elite race and will be a top contender. While he does not appear on the list below his 3mile PR this season is 15:29!

GIRLS ELITE PREVIEW

The Elite Girls Division will feature 8 of the top 15 teams in the state. Severna Park will come in as the favorite. They have not lost this year, winning the Seahawk invite, PTXC Invite, and the White Clay Creek Classic last week in Delaware. They have a very deep team that will look to pack it up. They have the ability to put 5 in the top 20. Hereford will try to upset the Falcons as they have a very strong top 3. The big question will be can thier 4-5 get close enough to Severna Park's #5?

Also battling for a top 5 finish will be Notre Dame Prep, who surprised a lot of teams at the Barnhart Invitational finishing 3rd. Walter Johnson has a great coaching staff and is led by the Raue sisters who are both talented runners.

McDonogh and Thomas Wootton both struggled at the Barnhart Invite but both teams have a lot of talent and will look to bounce back at this meet. Don't be surprised if either team can produce a top 3 finish.

Individually this is Evelyn Roger's race to lose. She has looked fantastic at her first three meets of the year, easily winning all of them. She won the Seahawk Invite and the Eagle Invite, both 3-mile courses, running under 18 minutes. She won the ADIDAS Challenge division last week in 18:23. Her toughest competitor may be the course itself and if she can safely navigate the infamous dip.

Behind her will feature several ranked runners such as Sylvia Snider, Rebekka Hillier, and Elena Blodkinar. Blodnikar is the reigning 4A State champ and is coming off a win at the Chesapeake Invite. She has run really well on Hereford's course in the past and will look to do the same on Saturday. Sylvia Snider and Rebekka Hillier have traded being Hereford's number 1 runner in thier first two meets. Both should be near the front of this race.

We are looking forward to possibly seeing Katie Greenwald from Walt Whitman debut this weekend as well. She has not raced yet but boasts some of the best XC and track PRs of any girl in this race!
