BOYS

The boy's team race looks to be a good one between Howard, Centennial, and Wilde Lake. All three schools have a very strong number 1 runner and the outcome of the race will most likely depend on how runners 2-5 shake out. Howard has a strong 2-4, Wilde Lake has a strong 2-3, while Centennial has the better #5. Expect this race to come down to single-digit points. 

Individually the same three schools all have a runner who will be looking to take home the county crown. Joey Ensor (Howard), Henry Hopper (Wilde Lake), and David Herzberger (Centennial) have all run strong this season. Hopper has the best 3-mile PR of the bunch at 15:15 run earlier in the season, but head-to-head Ensor has beaten him all 3 times they have met this year. With that said, it looks to be a competitive race down to the wire.

GIRLS

The Centennial girls looked strong at their last invite, running a 5k average of 19:50 down in North Carolina at the Great American Invite, which will make them the favorites for this championship, especially with it taking place on their home course. 4 of their top 5 runners ran under 20 minutes and they will look to replicate that on the hillier Centennial Course. Howard, Atholton, and Glenelg will be chasing Centennial and battling for the top 3 positions. Howard has 2 strong runners who give them a slight edge for second in the projected scores below. 

Individually there are 4 girls who have had a strong season and have the ability to win this race. Claire Sivitz has had one of the best freshman seasons by any Howard County runner and has run 18:45 for 5k this year. Behind her Riley Herdson ran 18:53 at Great American, Alyssa Mattes ran 18:56 at Top of the Hill Invite and Kiley Mann broke 19 minutes on Centennial's course earlier this season. Look for those 4 to pull away early and battle for the win.
