BOYS
Team Preview - This meet looks like it's Thomas Johnson's to lose. They are projected to score 79 points, 33 points more than second-place Urbana and Bowie who are projected to score 47 points. The Patriots will lean on distance standout James Partlow who will be the favorite in the 1600 and 3200. Luke Freimanis can medal in the 55m Hurdles, High Jump, and Pole Vault, Gilberto Ramos will also be the favorite to win the Pole Vault. Along with these three TJ has a strong supporting cast that will score points in most events.
Urbana, Bowie, and Paint Branch look to be the teams that will battle for 2nd place.
Athletes to Watch -
James Partlow (Thomas Johnson) - The best distance runner in the state will try to take home both the 1600 and 3200-meter titles and may even try to break some state records in the process. He also ran the 4x800 for the Patriots at Regionals and it will be interesting if he runs on that relay at States as well.
Nick Spikes (Paint Branch) - Spikes will try to win 3 gold medals in the 55m dash, 300m dash, and the 4x200 relay. Spikes has run sub 34 seconds in the 300 and is one of the best sprinters in the Nation.
Justin DeVaughn (Mervo) - DeVaughn will try to win gold in both the High Jump and the 55m Hurdles. He has the top mark in both events.
