2005 Quince Orchard Grad is CACC Runner of the Week!

NEW HAVEN, CT - Mickey Jones of the Goldey-Beacom men\'s cross country team and Joy Aifuwa of the USP women\'s cross country team, have been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Runners of the Week for the week of August 29 to September 5. Joe Morman of Goldey-Beacom and Janet O\'Brien of Wilmington have been selected as the CACC Rookies of the Week. Jones finished in seventh place at the Marywood University Invitational on Saturday with a time of 28:32 on a tough 8K course. Morman was just 20 seconds behind in ninth place in his first collegiate race. Jones and Mormen helped lead the Lightening to a fourth place finish at the meet. Aifuwa was the individual champion at the Delaware Valley Invitational in leading her team to an eighth place finish on Saturday. The sophomore ran a time of 27:15 despite being misdirected on the course on two occasions and thus getting temporarily lost. O\'Brien made an immediate impact with Wilmington as she was the team\'s top finisher in her first collegiate meet at the Sea Gull Opener, which was hosted by Salisbury Univeristy. She ran a school-record time of 24:06 on the 6K course en route to an 18th place finish. CACC Notes Men Philadelphia - By competing at the Delaware Valley College Invitational on Saturday, the Rams competed in a meet for the first time in 14 years. The squad finished in sixth place and senior Ryan Meyer was the top finisher in sixth place in a time of 28:45 on the 8K course. USP - Freshman Nick Willey broke 30:00 for 8,000 meters (29:57) in his first collegiate race, becoming the first USP runner to do so since the 2001 season. Women USP - Sophomore Joy Aifuwa successfully defended her title at the Delaware Valley College Invitational over the weekend, despite being misdirected on the course twice and thus costing her time and adding some distance to her run. Aifuwa lost the lead both times but recovered to win. Freshman Hayley Lentz also ran well in her first collegiate race, finishing second on the team with a time of 27:36 to place fourth overall. Wilmington - Freshman Janet O'Brien ran the fastest times in Wilmington College history for the 5K and 6K, clocking times of 20:12 and 24:06 respectively at the Sea Gull Opener held at Winter Place Park in Salisbury, MD. She placed 18th overall in a very talented field of 86 finishers.
