After turning heads with a sub-16 5K and sub-4:20 1600 as a freshman, McDonogh's Dalton Hengst kept the ball rolling as a sophomore. He beat Good Counsel's Jack Wavering to win the MD-DC Private School Championship and finished 24th at the Footlocker Northeast Regional before clocking a 4:10 mile during the spring. He heads a strong returning class of 2018 that includes 2A indoor 3200 state champion Jay Hall and last year's eighth-place finisher at the 4A XC state meet, Nick Deamer.
