The Top Five Returning Girls Track Athletes Heading Into 2017

In the past few years Coffin has emerged as one of the top distance runners in not just the state of Maryland, but the entire mid-Atlantic. She is coming off a senior cross country season in which she ran a MD #1 time of 17:25, captured her second straight 4A state title (and set the Hereford course record) and qualified for her second straight Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships.

Last indoor season Coffin won the 1600 indoor state title and finished second in the 3200 before competing at New Balance Indoor Nationals in both the Championships two mile and 5K. She will once again be up against stiff competition from Walter Johnson's Abbey Green (who, along with Hayley Jackson, also has a strong case to be included on this list). With five state championships already under her belt and an abundance of experience on the national stage, however, Coffin is poised to have one of the best indoor track seasons ever by a Maryland distance runner.
