After ranking our top 50 teams before the season we will post updated top 25 rankings at the beginning of every week!
This week's rankings shook up more than usual as every public school team was in action on Thursday (or Friday) for their respective regional championships. Some teams at the top had close calls (including River Hill in an unexpectedly close battle with Centennial, and Dulaney giving Northwood a fight at 4A North). Centennial's near-upset (they lost to River Hill by two points on their home course) makes them this week's biggest riser in the rankings, up six spots.
There were plenty of other risers, too. Both C. Milton Wright and Mount Hebron moved up four spots as they gain momentum heading into next week's 3A state meet. Meanwhile both the Wootton and Harford Tech boys crack the top 25 after not making last week's list (Wootton was featured on last week's "next five"). Harford Tech nearly beat Fallston at the 2A East region meet, showing the best depth they have all season as their 4-6 runners gave them a legitimate shot at taking down Fallston. With a top three as good as theirs, the Cobras will go as far as their next runners can take them next week at the 2A state meet.
