Is it possible for someone that didn't lose a single 1600 race his entire senior year to fly under the radar? Dulaney's Drew Dailey ran 4:18 at the indoor state meet - a mark equaled by only some of Maryland's best contemporary distance runners over the past decade - but hadn't run faster than 4:20 during the spring entering the state meet. Dailey drew a matchup with Richard Montgomery junior Garrett Suhr, whose also-undefeated season in the 1600 included a 4:17 win at the Viking Invitational. Through 800 meters, Dailey hung back in fifth place, 20 meters behind the leaders, but a huge move with 600 meters to go put him in the lead at the bell lap. From there, the sprint was on, and both Dailey and Suhr clocked the final lap in well under 60 seconds en route to personal bests of 4:14 and 4:15, respectively.
