Around 40 different teams from states like Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia came together for the 2022 Virginia Beach High School Relays. The meet was hosted by Lakeland at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia. This meet was one of the first big invitationals for the new year.

There was only one performance by a Maryland athlete. McDonogh's Mary Gorsky competed in the 800-meter event as the sole Maryland representative. Gorsky, a sophomore, ran a blistering time of 2:21.08. This performance is a new MD #3 and is ranked within the top 35 in the nation.
