Maryland Highlights From AAU Junior Olympics

Day 8 Highlights

  • Eric Allen of the Bullis School was trying to win his second AAU title of the week after claiming the 15-16 year old boys title in the 110 meter hurdles two days ago. Allen ended up settling for runner-up honors in the 100 meter dash finals with a time of 11.02.
  • Great effort from recent Urbana graduate Kevin Cory in the 17-18 year old boys 3K as he just came up short of winning the AAU national title in the event as the race runner-up in a time of 9:17.92.
  • Rising sophomore Cameron Hinton at Maryvale Prep ran over a full second PR to earn a bronze medal in the 15-16 year old girls 400 meter dash finals with a 55.15 clocking in Norfolk.
  • Quince Orchard's Ashley Seymour led the duo of Maryland girls in the 15-16 year old girls 200 meter dash finals finishing fifth place in 12.23 for a medal, while Frederick's Jaida Smith claimed seventh in 12.42.
  • Seymour also made the 200 meter dash finals, but elected to scratch the event and thus Magruder's Stephanie Davis was the lone representative for Maryland in the race. The Maryland 4A state 200 meter champ represented the state well with AAU national runner-up honors in a 24.60 clocking.
  • Kiara Parker of Westlake High School wrapped up her high school career earning AAU All-American honors in the 100 meter dash with a third place finish in the 17-18 year old girls finals with a time of 12.19.
  • Eric Allen of St. John's College in DC, but from Waldorf, Maryland placed sixth in the 15-16 year old boys 200 meter dash finals in 22.68.
  • Baltimore City College's Robert Miller earned his third individual medal of the week taking sixth place in the 17-18 year old boys 200 meter dash finals with a 22.59 performance.
  • The Maryland 2A state champion sprinter Micah Meekins of Marriots Ridge finished 7th in the finals of the 17-18 year old girls 200 meter dash with a time of 25.16.
