Maryland Highlights From AAU Junior Olympics

Eric Allen of Bullis School was the fastest qualifier in the 15-16 year old boys 100m dash prelims in 10.87.

  • Eric Allen from the Bullis School had the best time among all qualifiers from the preliminary round of the 15-16 year old boys 100 meter dash with 10.87 heat win. Allen had won the freshmen 100 meter dash title at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor earlier this month. Eric Harrison (11.06) from Waldorf, Maryland and Christian Saulsbur (11.10) from Columbia, Maryland also will be moving onto the semis.
  • Riverdale Baptist's Taylor Woods placed sixth for AAU All-American honors in the 17-18 age group for girls in the long jump with a leap of 18'8.50".
  • Westlake's Kiara Parker was the top qualifier among Maryland athletes in the 17-18 year old girls 100 meter dash as the state champ sprinter won her heat in 11.92 clocking.
  • Masai Russell from the Bullis School was the fastest qualifier among the 15-16 year old girls in the 400 meter hurdles trials with a 1:01.96 heat winning performance.
  • Robert Miller of Baltimore City College successfully moved on from the first round of the 17-18 year old boys 400 meter hurdles winning his heat in 54.27.
  • Three Maryland sprinters will be advancing onto the next round of the 17-18 year old boys 100 meter dash with Dontay Holloway from Baltimore as the second fastest qualifier overall winning his heat with a 10.61 clocking, while Baltimore Northwestern's Martez Boone won his heat in 10.92 and St. John's College's Alonzo Ruffin Jr. (from Jessup, MD) advanced on time with a 10.87 prelims performance.
