Maryland Highlights From AAU Junior Olympics

Day 6 Highlights

  • Harleigh White of Huntingtown, who was voted last month as MileSplit Maryland's Track & Field Athlete of the Year, helped cement that honor in winning the AAU national title for the 15-16 year old girls in the triple jump with a leap of 38'8.75".
  • Bullis School freshmen Eric Allen went from barely making the finals in the 15-16 year old boys 110 meter hurdles on day 5 to winning the AAU national title in the event in the finals with a 14.73 clocking. It was a 1-2 Maryland finish as Kollon Smith from Upper Marlboro grabbed second place with a 14.89 clocking.
  • Kollon Smith kept his day of hauling in medals going by grabbing runner-up again in another event in the long jump with a leap of 22'7.25".
  • Robert Miller of Baltimore City College qualified for his third finals of the week at AAU JO's as the 7th fastest performer in the 17-18 year old boys 200 meter dash semis at 21.53. Miller's day also included him becoming an AAU national runner-up in the 110 meter hurdles with a 13.92 clocking in the 17-18 year old boys finals.
  • Holton-Arms School's Lisa-Anne Barrow matched her semis PR time of 14.34 in the 100 meter hurdles with the same time in the finals to finish as an AAU JO national runner-up for the 17-18 year old girls.
  • Two girls from Maryland will be in the finals of the 15-16 year old girls 200 meter dash with Magruder's Stephanie Davis (24.07) and Quince Orchard's Ashley Seymour (24.43) both advancing on time as the fourth and fifth fastest qualifiers respectively.
  • Micah Meekins of Marriots Ridge will be in the finals of 17-18 year old girls 200 meter dash making it as the fourth fastest quaifier with a 24.36 clocking in the semis.
  • After just missing the 100 meter finals the day before, Eric Harrison secured his spot in the finals of the 200 with a fifth fastest semis time of 21.88.
