No. 11: Howard High School
The team battle at this year's Howard County Championships is going to be tight on the girls' side, and the Howard girls figure to be right in the mix after a second-place finish last season. Four of the top five runners from the team that finished 10th at last season's 4A State Championships are back for 2016, most of them rising seniors. Their top returner, Courtney Mann, followed up her solid season on the course with an even better track season, posting personal bests in the 800 (2:23.96), 1600 (5:12.40) and 3200 (11:19.78). Three more rising seniors come back having run faster than 20:40 last season, giving them a solid front pack with a lot of experience. If they can find that ever-important fifth runner, they will find themselves closer to their fifth-place finish at the 2014 state championships than their tenth-place finish last year.
