Ryan Lockett (Junior, Poolesville)

About a month into the 2016 season Ryan Lockett may not have even been considered for the third team all-Maryland, which is a testament to how strong he came on in the second half of the season. Lockett returned to Poolesville after a one-year hiatus at Gonzaga (DC) and started to come into his own at the DCXC Invitational, where he finished third in the junior race. He then finished in second at three straight races including a 5K personal best of 15:53.80 at the Montgomery County Championships. Lockett handily won the 3A West Regionals and concluded his second-half surge by grabbing the 3A state title, running the second-fastest time of the day (16:00.70).
