Another time trial race for the state's top ranked runner Maria Coffin of Annapolis is expected at her regional meet. A banner season including a course record on the state course at Hereford for the Bull Run Invite and the fastest performance ever by a Maryland girl on the historic Van Cortlandt Park course at Manhattan. Coffin has recorded several other course records in more local races including most notably for her second straight Anne Arundel County title in a smoking 17:36 5K effort last Thursday at Chesapeake High.
It should be a great race for second place between Broadneck's Natalie Jacobo and North Point's Rachel Nueslein. Both were runners-up in their championship meets last week to potential state champs with Jacobo at Anne Arundel County to Coffin and Nueslein at the SMAC Championships to Hayley Jackson. Nueslein has defeated Jacobo in their two head to head encounters this season at the Seahawk Invite and Chaptico Invite, while Jacobo has the faster season best 5K time with her 18:50 run at the Gunpowder Falls Invite.
