1A Girls 3200
The question is will Haley Wright chase after the 1A state meet record of 11:06.29 set in 1998 by Rising Sun's Korin Miller or will she be content to run simply hard enough to win the 3200 meter run on Thursday. The Boonsboro senior and University of Alabama commit Wright has celebrated many state championships in her senior year with Boonsboro, which she looks to add a few more this weekend to her career total this weekend in Baltimore.
Wright has a season best 3200 meter time of 11:06.09, but has a PR of 10:54 from last spring. She could very well lap the majority if not all of the 1A girls field on Thursday evening with her next fastest challenger in UCBAC runner-up Ashley Betz. Betz, a freshmen at Patterson Mill, has a season best time of 12:04 in the event.
Expect Brunswick's Elly McGilliviray (12:17 SB) and the Smithsburg duo of Malloy Maholt (12:24 SB) and Erica Lindsay (12:28 SB) to challenge Betz for state runner-up honors behind Wright.
