UCBAC XC Championships

October 26 proved to be a busy day with yet another meet to begin the week. The 2021 UCBAC XC Championships took place at the Fair Hill Racetrack in Elkton, Md.

For the Boys Varsity Race, C. Milton Wright's Ashton Tolson became the 2021 UCBAC XC Boys Champion after a sub-16 time of 15:56.20. Tolson led the race early on and was a lone wolf for the remainder of the race after giving himself a 13-second lead. Second place was a battle as Bohemia Manor's Day Leone and Fallston's Alex Xavier stuck side-by-side throughout the race. However, Leone managed to outpace Xavier and became the runner-up with a time of 16:09.96. Xavier ultimately ended up as the third-place finisher with a time of 16:21.03. Fourth place was taken by Aberdeen's Daniel Wilson (16:47.42) and fifth place was taken by Bel Air's Shane Ivy (16:53.90).

Regarding the team title, the Bel Air boys, led by Ivy, took home the top honors after scoring 54 points. Aberdeen (66 points), led by Wilson, and Fallston (91 points), led by Xavier, placed second and third, respectively.

On the girls' side, as expected, Bel Air's Elizabeth Pickett finished first. Pickett finished with a time of 19:03.00, which granted her a lead of 25 seconds. Fallston's Emily Atha trailed behind, finishing second with a time of 19:28.00. Pickett and Atha were the only girls to run sub-20 for the meet. The next athlete was Bel Air's Morgan Loewe with a third-place finish and a time of 20:12.00. The last two girls to round out the podium were C. Milton Wright's Ellie Bassham in fourth (20:16.00) and North Harford's Finley Lavin in fifth (20:30.00).

For the team scores portion of the meet, Bassham led C. Milton Wright to victory with a score of 39 points. Bel Air, led by Pickett, followed in second with 53 points. North Harford, led by Lavin, finished third with 101 points.
