Girls Black and Gold Team Preview
Notable Teams - #1Thomas Wootton, #2 Hereford, #3 McDonogh, #4 Severna Park, #6 Notre Dame Prep, #7 Dulaney, #9Towson, and #10 Northern Calvert. Honorable Mention teams: Winston Churchill, Richard Montgomery, and Walt Whitman
Thomas Wootton comes in as the favorite. They have looked extremely strong this year at Both Bull Run and Oatlands Invitationals, winning both of them. While they don't have a dominant number one runner they have a very strong 1-5 that can all run either under 20 minutes or close to it. The battle for second place should be fun to watch as Hereford has 3 runners who can place top 10, however, their success is largely placed on how their 4-5 runners finish. Severna park will be trying to redeem themselves a little after finishing 5th in the Bull Run Merge. They have one of the deepest teams in the state, however, the question remains if their pack can be up far enough to finish in the Top 3.
Northern-Calvert may be a surprise team to watch in this race as they have yet to have a race in which their full Varsity has run together. If that can happen this weekend look for them to place high in the results!
The private school battle between Notre Dame Prep and McDonogh will be fun to watch as both teams have looked strong for the first half of the season. McDonogh edged them at the Barnhart Invitational earlier in the year but Notre Dame has a strong number 1 in Olivia Sobkowicz and recently won the Spiked Shoe Invitational.
Prediction: Thomas Wootton
