(Abhishek Mudireddy gets an early lead in the Varsity Boys race)

Boys 5000m Varsity:

For the Boys Varsity race, Oakdale junior Abhishek Mudireddy finished first with a time of 16:59.07, which gave him a lead of 21 seconds. The next athlete was Bethesda-Chevy Chase senior Kieran Fitzgerald with a time of 17:20.67. The third-place finisher was Catoctin junior Alexander Contreras with a time of 17:35.00. Another Bethesda-Chevy Chase senior made the top 5 with Jonah Pachman taking fourth with a time of 17:43.20. The last runner within the top 5 was Gov. Thomas Johnson sophomore James Partlow with a time of 17:56.32. 

For the team scores, it was to no surprise that Bethesda-Chevy Chase (37 points) was victorious with Fitzgerald and Pachman as the team's leaders. The second-place title went to Oakdale (56 points), as led by Mudireddy. Third place was Georgetown Prep (73 points).

Girls 5000m Varsity:

(Varri Higgins separates herself from the rest of the pack) 

For the Girls Varsity race, it was Bethesda-Chevy Chase sophomore Varri Higgins who won with a blistering time of 18:32.50. She separated herself from the rest of the pack with a lead of almost a minute and a half. The next two spots were taken by Linganore seniors: Caroline Perrone (19:50.13) and Mikayla Moxley (20:09.25). The third-place spot was snagged by Oakdale senior Hailey Hallenberg with a time of 21:22.30. The fifth girl to make the ranks was Catoctin sophomore Jenna Conley with a time of 21:41.97. 

For the team scores, Linganore, led by Perrone and Moxley, took home the top honors with 28 points. Bethesda-Chevy Chase, led by Higgins, took home second with 44 points. Oakdale, led by Hallenberg, was third with 65 points.
