Week in Review: Maryland HS Cross Country, Oct. 18 - Oct. 23

Boys 5000m Run

Huntingtown's Thomas Foulkes had a standout performance during the Boys 5000m Run. Foulkes snagged first place with an impressive 16:00.30. Close behind was Chopticon's Mason Hoover with a time of 16:01.40. The next finisher was Gavin Stevens from Northern-Calvert with a time of 16:15.30. All three athletes had elite performances. 

Girls 5000m Run 

The girls' race was full of heavy-hitters. First, Great Mills' Cooper Brotherton had a breakthrough performance with a first-place finish in 18:09.00. This gave her a lead of 13 seconds. The next finisher was Northern-Calvert's Ella Meccia with a time of 18:22.30. The third finisher was Leonardtown's Parker O'Brien with a time of 18:40.40. O'Brien was the third and final girl to break 19 minutes for the race. All three girls had elite performances, but they were not the only ones. Places 4-6 also were considered elite performances: Calvert's Kristen Prince (4th, 19:07.90); Huntingtown's Summer Herbertson (5th, 19:12.90); Leonardtown's Elena Blodnikar (6th, 19:31.50).
